Issue #82 | Subscribe

As I'm getting older and losing family members, I have this growing realisation:

Give your family the cream.

This means treating them with the respect, love and attention they deserve.

With our smartphones and the artillery of apps taking up most of our attention, even when we're physically present with our family, we wander somewhere else mentally.

When you spend your family time like this, you miss out on many memories you could've made and a catalogue of meaningful conversations you could've had.

So:

The next time when you're physically present with your family, put your phone down, shut work out of your mind and be fully present.

I've started practising this in the last few years, and not only have I had richer conversations, but I have also felt more relaxed and happy.

Moments like this can be a perfect getaway from all the chaos around you at work or in your digital life.

Even if you live away from family, take some time today to call your parents or some other loved family member. Have a good laugh about something funny that happened to you lately.

Or simply share what you're feeling. Ask them what's going on in their lives.

You only get so much time with your loved ones. Cherish them.

You'll be grateful later.
