Twitter is going through a rough patch.

From mass layoffs to the weird new verification rules, the whole company is getting uprooted and replanted.

But, what struck me the most was the new work ethic getting instilled in the company.

From sleeping where you work to getting fired if you don't meet harsh deadlines, the whole work vibe in the company feels toxic.

Always working under the gun, seven days a week, is not something I would prefer, even if it came with a million dollars.

When you work like this for a long time, it becomes natural to start hating the job you once found meaningful and satisfying.

For example:

I love blogging to the point where I've done this for free out of love for years.

But, I've always found that it left a bitter feeling every time I pushed myself to work on blog posts beyond an acceptable limit.

No matter how much you love your job or working for a company or a leader, it's wise to maintain a balance.

Your work is a marathon, not a sprint. Treat it as such.
