Hey there,

I love shooting photos. Photography is a hobby that I've nurtured since my college days.

But, on a recent trip to Hyderabad, India, I let my photographer instincts take a back seat and enjoyed the surroundings and the company.

It's stupidly amazing how much you can enhance your travel by not feeling the compulsion to take a photo of every beautiful thing you witness.

Why does this work?

Two reasons why we take photos:

But, none of these reasons justifies why we should be seeing the world through a camera lens.

We rarely look at the photos we hoard on our phones and in the cloud.

And, when you're shooting a photo to share on social media, you're wasting your time trying to get the perfect shot rather than enjoying what's in front of you.

So:

On your next trip, make enjoying your travel a priority rather than taking a piece of it on your phone and stowing it away for later.

But, that's not to say you shouldn't click any photos on your trip.

Enjoy first and collect memories later.

For example, here's one of the few photos from our trip that'll make me smile every time I come across it:

The key here is that less is more.

Before we move on, here are a couple of announcements:

  1. I'm releasing my actionable book summaries and notes next week on 30th April. You still have a chance to grab it before prices go up after the launch.
  2. I'm pausing this newsletter for two weeks due to some personal work. Be back on 13th May 2022.

Now, grab a coffee, sit tight, and enjoy this week's issue:
