Hey there,

Do you have a habit of hoarding books and articles for reading later but never make the time to get to them?

You're not alone.

It's so typical that a Japanese term for this practice is Tsundoku.

Tsundoku talks about collecting reading materials but never actually reading them.

These books or articles pile up and create a physical or a digital mess.

Although I spend quite a time reading books and articles every week, I too have my fair share of Tsundoku.

Piled up articles on Pocket and unread books on my Kindle and bookshelf.

But, there's an antidote for this:

Make time for reading one chapter or a few articles every day.

It might take you 10 minutes or maybe 30 minutes, depending on your reading pace.

But:

This small investment of time every day will reward you with the gift of actionable knowledge over time.

Now:

What if you don't like reading long books, cover to cover? 🤔

If that's the case, you can skim through books on fast-forward using my upcoming collection of book summaries and notes.

In any case, a habit of continuous learning will open doors that you didn't even know existed.

Don't let Tsundoku take over your life.

Now, grab a coffee, sit tight, and enjoy this week's issue:

Apps & Services

Amie ➔

A calendar app that sparks joy

Amie is a gorgeous new calendar app that makes creating to-dos and calendar events a fun experience. Some of the features that I'm excited about are birthday reminders, duplicating an event from the past, and the integrated to-do list sidebar. Amie is available on macOS and iOS, with Android in the works, and is free to start with.
Livedocs ➔

Documents that stay up to date

The newest innovation in document apps is embedding live-updating inline fields and charts. And Livedocs does just that. You can connect various services like Google Analytics, Twitter, Facebook, Stripe, Notion, and more and pull live data from those services into your documents. Helpful in preparing reports and plans on growth and marketing. Available on the web for $30/month.
Rise ➔

Understand your daily energy levels

Our energy levels fluctuate throughout the day. And understanding when to work hard and when to relax is the key to getting things done sustainably. Rise will automatically track your sleep patterns and help you identify your periods of peaks and dips to plan your day better. Available on iOS and Android, and costs $59.99/year.
AudioWave ➔

Create auto-updating podcast playlists

AudioWave is a web app that lets you generate an auto-updating playlist from your favourite podcasts using a set of rules. For example, since I enjoy short podcast episodes, I can create a playlist that features episodes under 30 mins from a list of podcasts I listen to. Once generated, you can add this playlist feed to Apple Podcasts or any other app that support podcast feeds. 100% free to use.

Following a herd mentality only brings in competition rather than any progress. If you're doing what everyone else is doing, why would someone pick you over others? So, instead of choosing a saturated market, pick one where you can stand out amongst the rest. Focus on the global maxima.

PARA or Projects — Areas — Resources — Archives is an organisation technique that'll help you streamline your goals and work to make progress every day. How often do you go to a superstore to buy one or two specific items and come out with a trolley full of stuff? This is how most stores, including Ikea, operate — designing every aspect of the store to make you buy more things than you need.
