After 1Password's recent price hike, which was a 300% increase for me since I was on a localised pricing, I started looking at alternatives.

Apple's new Passwords app was a no-go because I wanted a cross-platform app.

Proton Pass was a close alternative, but after much deliberation, I eventually settled on NordPass.

The apps look and feel polished, and Nord swooped in with a 2-year introductory deal (~$23 for the first two years) that was difficult to ignore.

Now, while the move was seamless, and I could import all my saved items from 1Password, I felt 1Password had a much better categorisation of saved items.

For example, 1Password had dedicated item types for saving software licenses, SSH keys, and server credentials, which weren't crucial features but were a nice quality-of-life upgrade.

On NordPass, these items are now saved as secure notes, which are similar to 1Password's storage system, but lack an immediate visual classification.

Nevertheless, NordPass looks like a worthy alternative, and I intend to use this for at least the next two years.
