Video games are not my usual downtime activity. I don't own a console or a PC, so I don't have a vast catalogue to choose from anyway.

But last week, I found a game on Steam that had me hooked immediately.

It's called SNØ, and it's an open-world skiing and snowboarding game:

Think of Alto's Adventure, but more immersive.

What I love about this game is that, amongst the other gameplay options, there are two that create a relaxed gaming experience — Zen and Infinite Run:

I've been playing this game for 5–10 minutes between work, and it's been a soothing break after hours of work.

The mountain resets on every attempt, so you can rotate between different times of the day and environments as you restart your run.

For example, I landed on this beautiful moonlit slope after a few attempts:

The studio behind this game is currently running a 50% discount. So, if you're looking for a relaxing adventure game, try this one out.

Speaking of discounts, I shared the Alma app in Issue #201, and this week I partnered with them to offer a 50% discount on their annual plan for Hulry members.

That's a discount value of $49.99 for the first year, and you can access this deal from the members-only discounts page.

P.S.:- I'll be moving the Hulry Plus membership to a subscription model instead of the current one-time payment model in the coming weeks.

A lifetime purchase option will still be available, but at a much higher rate than the current price.

You can still become a member at the current $49 one-time payment pricing before the change happens.

Scratch

A beautiful file-based notes app

This app feels like an open-source version of Bear Notes, following the same philosophy as Obsidian — notes in MD files rather than a closed database. The UI is neat and simple while offering almost everything you need to write good notes. Available on macOS, Windows and Linux for free.
‎Focus Traveller

Climb virtual peaks while you focus on work

I’ve been noticing a wave of creative focus timer apps recently, and this one is one of the most beautiful ones I’ve seen. Once you start a focus session, your traveller starts climbing up a hill until you finish your session. Works splendidly and feels like playing a game. Available on iOS and is free to start.
Particle

Personalised news with conflicting opinions

I like this news app for a couple of reasons. First, it builds stories referencing multiple articles and cites them all. Second, there’s a tab to see conflicting views on the current story, which is crucial to avoid becoming filter-bubbled. Available on iOS and Android, and is free for basic use.

Shortcuts

For a while, people have been asking me to write about my process of building automation using Apple's built-in Shortcuts app. After many iterations, I've landed on a series I believe will be helpful for anyone looking to create tailored shortcuts for their needs. This is the first post in the series, and it will help you transition into the world of shortcuts even if you haven't built one before.
Patience is a Process, Not a Virtue

Like many others, I’ve also been familiar with the phrase “patience is a virtue”. This piece argues otherwise. Patience is not a virtue but a process carved through practice. It’s not something you have, but something you choose to do.
iPhone Dumbphone

I still prefer my version of the iPhone dumb phone, but if you’re looking for a system that’s harder to game, this might be the setup for you. I never knew Apple had a publicly-available configurator app to tweak how your iPhone behaves.
