I recently came across a medical term called Anhedonia, which has fascinated me ever since.
It's a disorder that reduces your ability and motivation to experience pleasure. It can be a symptom of depression, PTSD or other mental conditions.
While most of us are unaffected by clinical Anhedonia, we're often hit with a lightweight version.
Making time for pleasurable activities amidst the busyness of life, especially when you have a mountain of responsibilities on your shoulders, often feels wrong.
Now that I'm not working a full-time job, I've been feeling this mental state from time to time.
Watching my savings dissipate without a steady income makes me question whether taking time out of my schedule to engage in playful activities is judicious.
But in these last two months, whenever I've tried to push myself beyond my capacity, I've always felt the need to slow down, catch a breath, and enjoy some time off without feeling guilty about it.
I needed some playtime.
How about you?
Do you ever feel a lack of motivation to enjoy some time off or engage in pleasure? Do you think about work and the next thing to do instead of enjoying something you're part of right now?
This is something for you to ponder this weekend.
Finally, I'm done drafting all the chapters of my book, Kokoro, and it's still on track to meet the April-end launch schedule.
I'll put on my editor hat next week and start editing all the chapters I've written, polishing them and getting them ready for you.
Thanks again to everyone who pre-ordered my book last week. It's always delightful to see the support for this book pour in.
If you didn't get a chance to pre-order last week or are new here, you can still pre-order my upcoming ebook at an early-supporter price of $20 while this promotion lasts.
