A few people from my team at work have left the company this month, and we've been doing an Ask-Me-Anything session for them on their last day to have a fun chat and gain unshared wisdom.

When it came to my turn to ask a question, I asked everyone the same question: "Apart from all the technological and career growth, what was one thing that contributed to your personal growth?"

I was particularly interested in this question because the regular expectation from the workplace is learning the trade, levelling up your relevant skills and moving up the corporate ladder.

Interestingly, this has brought up a variety of answers, like travelling to other countries for work and meeting people from various cultures, learning to be calmer and control anger, and so on.

Learnings or habits and behaviour changes that come in as a side benefit of your regular work are fantastic because they can flow over to the other parts of your life outside work.

For example, the guy who learned to manage his anger can now have a better temperament at home and with people outside work, too.

Which brings us to a fun activity to do before this year ends:

Spend some time this weekend or during your holiday break to identify how you've grown this year or the past few years at your work or professional projects outside of the traditional career growth.

See if you can take some of those lessons outside of work and apply them to other parts of your life.

You might be surprised how much untapped wisdom and life lessons you have within you already.

Now:

Speaking of personal growth and good habits, have you tried the Breathhh app yet?

Apps & Services

CompressX

Ridiculously good video compression app

I was blown away that this app compressed a video originally sized at 4MB to 570KB with negligible loss in quality. The initial setup is a little hassle, but the results are fantastic. Available on macOS and is free to use.
Google Bard

A powerful AI assistant for you

When I tried Bard a few months ago, it wasn't as good as ChatGPT. But, with their latest Gemini Pro model, the results are quite at par with ChatGPT 4. The best part is that it's free and can plug into your favourite Google apps. Available on the Web and is free to use.
Cry Once a Week

Release your pent-up emotions

Happy and sad tears both act as outlets to release pent-up emotions and leave you feeling good. Shed a tear now and then by watching a random heart-touching video on this website. Available on the Web for free.
